Introductions

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

Greetings! My name is Karalynn Conditt, but I go by Kara. I'm a senior, soon to be graduating this coming June. (2023) I would be graduating in 2024 if it hadn't been for my extended research into my school's graduation requirements, discovering that I had accumulated enough credits to graduate a year early.

While attending a summer program with other seniors from across the world, it was brought to my attention that I should have been starting my college applications. This was news to me. I had no idea how to start! These students guided me through the basics, what CommonApp was, and how to navigate it, along with understanding essay prompts. From there, I was on my own. I wasn't taught this in high school, nor was there an extra-curricular option available to help me through the application process. After hiring a mentor to help me with my essays and applications, I was golden.

I've come to realize that many of my classmates don't understand how the application process works and don't have the resources to hire a mentor. They grow afraid to try anything for fear of a rejection letter. While working with Ready WA, it's become my mission to help students like me figure out their future in education. So I hope you find this helpful, and I look forward to continuing this blog.

- Kara
